Garage Door Cannot Open Fully

As you open the door look for any signs of resistance or obstruction.
Garage door cannot open fully. Use a screwdriver to tighten the wire. From here lift the garage door by hand about 3 feet above the ground and then release the door and see were it lands. Before doing any sort of troubleshooting on your garage door or garage door opener make. When your garage door won t fully open start by closing it fully and then pulling the emergency release handle down and back toward the trolley to disengage the automatic opener.
Test the door s balance. With the door closed and disengaged from the opener manually lift the garage door. The door should then lower easily and you can reconnect the opener. Adjust the travel.
A torsion spring has. Turn the power back on and the door should open and close normally. If the door is very heavy then you have a spring that is broken or that has failed. When the door is fully open use a mallet to lightly tap the bent side of the track back into alignment.
If your garage door is not balanced right it won t go up or down all the way. Shut off the power to the garage door opener. Do this with the door in the fully closed position. To check the balance pull the emergency release cord or chain to disconnect the door.
You should now be able to move the door up and down by hand.
